Tennis In American Colleges – Interview With Alessia Ciampi

Alessia Ciampi

In recent years, more and more young Italian athletes have decided to move to the United States to continue their sports careers and, at the same time, continue their university studies. One of these athletes is Alessia Ciampi, a Tuscan tennis player of FIT 2.7 ranking who is currently playing in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Alessia tells us that the choice to move to the United States was dictated by the difficulty of reconciling studies and high-level sports in Italy. In the United States, however, it is possible to do both at a good level, thanks to the organization and support offered by American universities. Alessia immediately got along well in the United States, where people are very open and willing to help.

Speaking of the challenges she encountered, Alessia says she had initial difficulties with English and chose a community college in order to grow and improve in a smaller, more familiar environment. Despite her busy schedule and full day between classes and practices, the American organization allows her to manage both school and sports well.

Alessia also tells us about the differences between American and Italian tennis, pointing out that in the United States they are taught to play for the team, making the experience more engaging and rewarding. The level of tennis in Florida is very high, with opponents who might be worth even 2.3 or 2.4 in the Italian rankings.

Among the most difficult moments, Alessia remembers the first months of adjustment, while among the best moments she mentions a trip to Texas, where the team became more united and had a lot of fun. For the future, Alessia plans to transfer to another college to complete her other two years of study and would like to study Business Administration.

Finally, Alessia Ciampi offers valuable advice for those who are about to embark on a path similar to hers: never back down, even in the face of difficulties, and always try to keep moving forward, because with time things will get better.
